Cunard needed an economical way of broadcasting the worldwide press announcement of their latest ocean liner project, the Queen Victoria.

An eighteen minute video; shot, edited, approved, compressed and delivered in 6 hours.

The launch of a new Cunarder, the Queen Victoria is a big event in the cruise and ocean liner industry. Cunard turned to their long standing supplier, big:interactive to produce the video news release of the London press announcement by Cunard MD, Carol Marlow, that would be streamed on their website to the worldwide shipping and travel press.

When Cunard approached us, we decided that it would not only be a fast turn around that would be necessary to successfully complete this job, but also high picture and audio quality as well as an accessible video format that would allow as many viewers as possible irrespective of what browser and platform they were using. We also structured the production schedule in consultation with Cunard to allow them a maximum possible amount of viewing and amendment time.

We opted to shoot on DVCam with a professional cameraman as it produces a high quality image but the camera is small and so less obtrusive to the speaker and audience. We edited the video on Media100 having already created and had approved the necessary graphics elements in advance. This allowed Cunard a more than ample couple of hours viewing and re-editing time after which the video was compressed to QuickTime and Macromedia Flash Video formats and then transferred to the streaming service in the US via our staging server.
